Welcome to American Glass Clubs!

There is no cost associated by becoming a member of the AGC.  This is simply a site where clubs with a common interest in glass may associate. Large or small, each club has a place under which they may share ideas and way to preserve what we know and keep glass collecting alive and interesting.

Collecting glass has been a passion for many of us over numbers of years, too many for some of us!  During all those years, we have learned a thing or two about all sorts of glass. THIS is very important knowledge that if not preserved, will be lost forever.  As temporary custodians of the glass we collect, it is vital to pass the glass and what we know about it on to future generations.

If you are a glass club, you are automatically a member. While we encourage you to take an active part in the effort to participate, it is not a requirement. You are part of a community of glass enthusiasts, a collective of people who share the same interest.

Why do this? The average age of our club members is typically over sixty-five. Clubs that once numbered membership in the hundreds have seen a large decline. This has a significant impact on our ability to conduct glass conventions. There is a huge advantage in the economics of scale when searching for hotel accommodations, but the more important advantage is keeping our clubs alive. Each glass club is either faced with this dilemma now or will face it within the next five years.

What about my ‘identity’ as a glass club? What your club collects is what identifies your club. As a member of the AGC, your identity will remain as it always has. You club is simply a part of something much larger than itself, a community of glass collectors.

Many glass clubs have an element of crossover of interest. For example, saltshakers were made of various types of glass. Milk glass collectors have a common or crossover interest in saltshakers that were made of milk glass. The same goes for vaseline glass collectors. Many saltshakers were made of vaseline glass, still another crossover interest. There are many areas where our clubs’ interests will crossover. It is here where the sharing of knowledge will be both exciting and rewarding.

This is just the beginning. Our desire is to keep our clubs alive, and this is an attempt to do just that. A small step that with your input can grow into a much stronger organization.  If you want further information or wish to be a part of the AGC, please contact us at:
